Meaning of Single, Double and Double Blue Ticks in Whatsapp

WhatsApp the free messaging app more often address as the social app has changed a lot since its initial release in the year 2009. Tons of features has been loaded with the social messaging app WhatsApp in last few years that include voice calling, Video Calling, sharing of animated GIF pictures and documents.

Recently WhatsApp has announced video and voice conference services including the group video calling feature which is seem to be very revolutionary in terms of technological development.

In this blog post we will learn the different meanings of signs used by WhatsApp to indicate the message status:

  • icon-grey (Single Grey tick) – The Green tick indicates that the message has been sent from your device, but the recipient has not received it. This further indicates that the message is with the WhatsApp’s server and once the recipient will appear online the WhatsApp server will attempt to send the message automatically.
  • icon-grey-double (Double Grey tick) – The double grey tick indicates that the message sent by you has been received by the recipient, this further indicate that the message has been delivered, but the recipient has not yet read it.
  • icon-blue (Double Blue tick) – The double blue tick indicates that the message sent by you has been read by the recipient.
