Editorial Policy

Digital Pradesh — Intelligence in Every Byte.

Digital Pradesh is committed to publishing informative, accurate, responsible and relevant content that helps readers understand the issues shaping Uttar Pradesh, India and the wider world. This Editorial Policy outlines the principles that guide our news coverage, explainers, analysis, opinion articles and other published material.

Our objective is to make information accessible without compromising accuracy, context, fairness or editorial responsibility. This policy applies to editorial content published by Digital Pradesh, including material prepared by staff, contributors and external writers.

1. Editorial Principles

Our editorial approach is guided by the following principles:

  • Accuracy: We aim to ensure that published information is factually sound, relevant and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Public interest: We prioritise subjects that inform readers about public affairs, governance, law, business, technology, education, science and other matters of relevance.
  • Fairness: We seek to represent relevant perspectives responsibly and avoid misleading or materially incomplete presentations.
  • Independence: Editorial decisions should be based on journalistic considerations rather than commercial, political or personal pressure.
  • Clarity: We aim to explain complex developments in accessible language while preserving their meaning and significance.
  • Accountability: We take legitimate complaints, corrections and questions about published material seriously.

2. Reporting and Source Verification

Published content should be based on credible sources appropriate to the subject. Depending on the nature of a story, these may include official records, court judgments, legislation, government notifications, research publications, institutional statements, original documents, interviews and reputable news sources.

Where practical, writers should consult primary sources rather than rely exclusively on secondary reporting. Significant claims should be checked against the available evidence, and sources should be evaluated for reliability, relevance, potential bias and independence.

Anonymous or confidential sources should be used cautiously and only when the information justifies their use. Claims that could materially affect a person’s reputation require particular care, adequate supporting evidence and an appropriate opportunity for response where practicable.

Information that cannot be independently verified should not be presented as established fact. Where uncertainty materially affects a report, it should be communicated clearly to readers.

3. Accuracy, Context and Headlines

Headlines, summaries, images, captions and social-media descriptions should accurately reflect the content they represent. They should not exaggerate findings, imply unsupported conclusions or omit context in a way that materially misleads readers.

Statistics, quotations, dates, names, legal provisions and numerical claims should be checked with appropriate care. Quotations should preserve the speaker’s intended meaning, and excerpts should not distort the context of the original statement.

We seek to distinguish confirmed information from allegations, projections, interpretations and opinion. The existence of a complaint, investigation, charge or lawsuit should not, by itself, be treated as proof that an allegation is true.

4. Legal and Public Affairs Reporting

Legal reporting should accurately distinguish allegations, investigation, arrest, charge, trial, judgment, appeal and final adjudication, as applicable. Court decisions should be described in their proper procedural and legal context.

Where relevant, writers should identify the court or authority involved, the date of the decision, the applicable legal provisions and the status of subsequent proceedings. Judicial observations should not be misrepresented as final findings, and a decision should not be described as a binding precedent without appropriate legal justification.

Reporting involving criminal allegations must respect the presumption of innocence and applicable restrictions on reporting. Particular care should be taken when covering children, sexual offences, ongoing investigations, sealed proceedings and matters subject to court orders or statutory reporting restrictions.

Legal information published by Digital Pradesh is intended for general informational purposes. It should not automatically be treated as individualised legal advice.

5. Opinion, Analysis and Commentary

Opinion articles, analysis and commentary may express arguments, interpretations and viewpoints. They should nevertheless be grounded in accurate information and should distinguish factual assertions from opinions or predictions.

Publication of an opinion does not necessarily mean that Digital Pradesh endorses every view expressed by its author. Opinion content must comply with applicable law and our editorial standards, including requirements relating to accuracy, fairness and responsible presentation.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist with research, transcription, translation, summarisation, drafting, editing, data analysis and other editorial tasks where appropriate.

AI-generated or AI-assisted material is not inherently accurate. It must not be treated as an authoritative source merely because it is fluent, detailed or confidently expressed. Material risks include fabricated quotations, incorrect legal citations, outdated information, misleading summaries and invented statistics.

Where AI tools are used, the publisher or responsible contributor remains accountable for the accuracy, originality, legality and quality of the published material. Important factual claims, legal references, quotations and data should be checked against reliable sources before publication.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate sources, invent interviews, create false evidence or knowingly misrepresent real events. Synthetic images, altered media and AI-generated illustrations must not be presented as authentic documentary evidence. Where their nature could materially affect a reader’s understanding, appropriate disclosure should be provided.

7. Images, Videos and Other Media

Images, videos, graphics, charts and other media should be relevant to the accompanying content and used with appropriate rights, permissions or other lawful grounds.

Captions should accurately describe the material. Illustrative images should not be presented as photographs of the actual event or individuals concerned. Material alterations that could mislead readers about a real event should be avoided, and relevant disclosures should be provided where necessary.

Charts, graphs and infographics should represent data fairly, identify the relevant source where appropriate and avoid visual techniques that materially distort the findings.

8. Plagiarism and Originality

Digital Pradesh does not accept deliberate plagiarism, fabricated attribution or the unauthorised presentation of another person’s work as original work.

Contributors must ensure that submitted material is original or that the necessary permissions and licences have been obtained. Quotations, data, images and ideas drawn from other sources should be attributed where appropriate, subject to applicable law and accepted editorial practice.

Rewriting or paraphrasing another publication does not automatically make material original. Submissions that reproduce substantial portions of existing work without appropriate justification, attribution or permission may be rejected or removed.

9. Sponsored Content and Advertising

Commercial relationships should not be allowed to mislead readers about the nature of published content. Sponsored articles, paid promotions and other commercial placements should be clearly identified through appropriate labels such as “Sponsored”, “Advertisement” or “Paid Partnership”, as applicable.

Advertising acceptance does not guarantee independent editorial coverage, favourable reporting or a particular opinion. Advertisers cannot automatically require the alteration of independent news reporting as a condition of an advertising arrangement.

Sponsored content remains subject to applicable laws, disclosure requirements, content restrictions and publication approval. We may reject or remove promotional material that is misleading, unlawful, unsupported or otherwise inconsistent with our standards.

10. Conflicts of Interest

Writers and contributors should disclose material personal, professional or financial interests that could reasonably affect, or appear to affect, their reporting or analysis.

Potential conflicts may arise from financial interests, employment, consultancy, close personal relationships, gifts, sponsored travel or other benefits connected with the subject of an article.

Where a conflict cannot be appropriately managed, the assignment may be reassigned, additional disclosure may be required or publication may be declined.

11. Privacy and Sensitive Information

Personal information should be handled responsibly and published only when there is a legitimate editorial justification and an appropriate legal basis.

We seek to avoid unnecessary disclosure of private addresses, contact details, personal records and other sensitive information. Particular care is required when reporting on children, vulnerable individuals, victims of crime and people who may face a heightened risk of harm from publication.

Information being publicly accessible does not automatically mean that republishing it is necessary or in the public interest. Privacy considerations should be weighed against the legitimate informational value of publication.

12. Corrections and Updates

Digital Pradesh recognises the importance of correcting material errors. Readers who identify a potential factual error, misleading statement, incorrect attribution or outdated detail are encouraged to contact us with the relevant article URL and supporting information.

Verified errors may be corrected, and significant corrections or updates may be explained within the article or through another appropriate notice. Minor typographical or formatting changes may be made without a separate correction notice where they do not affect the meaning of the content.

Requests for corrections are assessed on their merits. A disagreement with an article or an unfavourable opinion does not, by itself, establish that the material is factually incorrect.

13. Reader Complaints and Right of Reply

Readers, individuals and organisations may raise concerns about accuracy, fairness, privacy, attribution or other editorial matters by contacting our team.

Complaints should identify the relevant article, explain the concern clearly and provide supporting evidence where available. We may seek additional information before determining an appropriate response.

Where a report contains a material allegation about an identifiable person or organisation, a reasonable opportunity to respond may be provided where appropriate and practicable. The need for a response does not automatically require publication of every statement submitted.

14. Content Review and Removal

Published content may be reviewed when credible new information becomes available, a material error is identified, legal requirements change or a legitimate concern is raised.

Depending on the circumstances, we may correct, update, annotate, restrict or remove content. Decisions should take account of accuracy, public interest, the seriousness of the issue, applicable legal obligations and the potential consequences of leaving the material unchanged.

Content removal is not automatic merely because a person or organisation objects to its publication. Requests are considered individually and in accordance with applicable law and editorial standards.

15. Contributor Responsibilities

Contributors are expected to submit accurate, original and properly sourced material. They should identify sources, verify important claims, respect copyright and privacy, disclose relevant conflicts of interest and comply with applicable laws and our Contributors’ Guidelines.

Digital Pradesh reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, style, structure and legal compliance; request supporting evidence; seek clarification; or decline material that does not meet publication requirements.

Acceptance or publication of an article does not remove the contributor’s responsibility for the accuracy and lawful use of submitted material. Editorial decisions remain subject to the publisher’s applicable policies and legal obligations.

16. Policy Updates

This Editorial Policy may be updated as editorial practices, technology, legal requirements and publishing standards evolve. The current version published on this page will serve as the reference for our stated editorial principles.

Readers and contributors are encouraged to review this page periodically.
